In der zweiten Hälfte der 1920er-Jahre und im anschließenden
Jahrzehnt begründeten Lagondas Sportwagen mit Zwei- und
Dreilitermotoren den sportlichen Ruf der Marke, da diese Wagen
eine Reihe von Automobilrennen gewannen. Ab 1928 trat
Lagonda werksseitig beim Le Mans an. Der größte Erfolg der
Marke war der Sieg eines Lagonda-Privatteams beim 24-Stunden-
Rennen von Le Mans 1935. Der Lagonda M45 Rapide von John
Hindmarsh und Luis Fontés beendete hier eine vierjährige
Siegesserie von Alfa Romeo. Zu dieser Zeit konkurrierte Lagonda
direkt mit Aston Martin. Der hier angebotene Lagonda ist einer
von nur 25 je gebauten Lagonda Rapide. Der Wagen war nach
dem Krieg im Besitz des Chairmans des Britischen Lagonda Club
und danach 45 Jahre im Besitz des britischen Sammlers Donald
Overy. Das Fahrzeug wurde im Jahr 2005 komplett von David
Wall, einem renommierten Restaurationsbetrieb für Lagonda,
restauriert und befindet sich in einem entsprechend schönen
Zustand.

In the second half of the 1920s, and the subsequent decade Lagondas sportscars with  2 and 3- litre- engines founded the sporty fame of the brand, they just won numerous automobile races.

As from 1928 the factory Lagonda took part at the Le Mans races. Nevertheless the biggest success of the brand was the triumph of a Lagonda private-driver-team at Le Mans in 1935.

The M 45 Rapide of John Hindmarsh and Luis Fontès ended a four- years- winning- period of Alfa Romeo.in these days Lagonda acted in rivalship to Aston Martin.

The Lagonda Rapide offered here, is one of only 25 ever built original Rapides.

After the war the car was owned by the chairman of the british Lagonda Club, and after -for a period of over 45 years- the car was possessed by the british collector Donald Overy.

In 2005 the Rapide was restored by completely by David Wall, a Lagonda-specialized restoration company with excellent reputation. Adequately proper the condition is...
